Rare titanium oxide crystal

Anatase is a rare crystal appearance of Titanium Oxide. In total, three different crystal forms of this oxide are known. The other two are rutile and brookite. The crystal is characterized by the typical double pyramid crystal shape. In the past, this mineral was also called octahedrite because of the octagonal crystals. The name Anatase comes from the Greek word: 'Anatasis' which means extension, referring to the elongated crystals.
