Burnt amethyst on stand from Brazil
what is amethyst
Amethyst is a purple variant of quartz and owes its typical purple color to the presence of iron, which is colored purple by the ionizing radiation (or radioactive radiation) from the earth. By heating amethyst between 300 and 400 degrees it loses its purple color and turns brown/yellow to orange. We then speak of heated amethyst or burnt amethyst. Sometimes this is mistakenly sold as citrine. However, this is incorrect. Although the color is not naturally obtained, the crystals are 100% real!
Amethyst protects and purifies, gives you insight, strength and helps you to control addictions.
