About 14 million years ago the Earth was struck by an asteroid. The impact of this enormous meteorite created the Nördlinger Ries crater. In this collision, the meteorite was beaten to pieces and fragmented. Parts of the meteorite and earth rock were hurled into the atmosphere and then landed hundreds of miles away in the Czech Republic.
The Tektite is about 28 million years ago by a very large meteorite impact. It so much energy and heat was quite the desert sand was melted into glass. Libyan glass is conspicuous by its yellow color but can have the different layers of sand too brown. It is the only Tektite on earth with this striking yellow color and was therefore named 'golden tektite'
Indochiniet tektites are black melted pieces of stone and sand that form at a meteorite impact. The Tektite is a mix of terrestrial and extraterrestrial materials. Because of the enormous heat of a meteorite impact a mix of terrestrial and earthy sand and rock is melted into glass.
