Necklace pendant from Altasaurus bone
The Atlasaurus was a herbivorous dinosaur that lived 167-161 million years ago in North Africa. In 1980 the dinosaur was first discovered in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, but it was until 1999 that it was described as its own species.
The most striking feature of this dinosaur was its very long neck, which could reach a length of more than 3.5 metres! The total length of the animal is estimated at 15 metres and its weight at 22,5 tonnes. This is comparable to 5 adult elephants.
These pendants are made from the bone of the Atlasaurus. The structure still shows the veins that have run through the bone.
