Ammonite necklace pendants
Ammonites were a group of cephalopods to which the current squid and nautilus belong. Nowadays the squid has its shell inside, but the Ammonites still had their shell outside the body, just like the nautilus.
Ammonite as a piece of jewelry
Ammonites lend themselves very well for beautiful jewelry. Cut ammonites from Madagascar where all the individual chambers are clearly visible, or the polished ammonites from Morocco. Each pendant is unique and tells its own story of these prehistoric creatures.
The name of the ammonites is derived from the Egyptian and Greek god 'Amon'. Amon was often depicted with ramshorns. The fossils they found were apparently very similar to these horns, which gave them the name: 'Ammonite'.
