This molar comes from the woolly mammoth. The scientific name for this species is M. primigenius. This furry elephant had huge tusks and hair that could hang down to the ground to protect itself from the cold.
Habitat of the mammoth
The woolly mammoth was found in today's Europe and North America, but the landscape looked very different back then. During the ice ages, a lot of water was stored in ice caps and many seas were dry. This allowed the mammoth to spread over large parts of the world.
This molar comes from Poland and is well preserved. You don't have to worry about any decay.
