Meteorite impact
Moldavite occurred about 14.2 million years ago by a meteorite impact. Because of the enormous heat created by the impact, the rocks and sand melted into glass. This glass, which is a mix of terrestrial and meteorite material, was spread by force over a large distance. This' glass drops "are also called tektites.
