What is Nuumite?
Nuummite is a rare metamorphic rock that consists of the minerals drought and anthophyllite. The stone is only found in Greenland and is named after the area of Nuuk.
When discovered?
Nuummite was discovered in 1810 by mineralogist Giesecke. The stone was not scientifically defined until 100 years later.
