Ocean Jasper is an orbicularis jasper found exclusively in Madagascar. The stone is characterized by its many different colors and spherical patterns. Research has shown that there is probably not much jasper in these stones, but that this is a chalcedony variant.

Two sites in Madagascar

Although orbicularis jasper occurs in a number of places in the world, ocean jasper is only found in the northwest of Madagascar. And also here only in 2 places: near the village of Marovato, directly on the coast and near the village of Kabamby which is about 1.5 kilometers inland.
