Product description

Naming of the mineral

The name apophyllite comes from the Greek words 'apo' (away from) and 'phylos' (leaf) referring to the tendency to exfoliate (layer) like a leaf when heated. Apophylite occurs in several colors but is best known for its clear colorless crystals and green crystal clusters.

Beloved collect stone

Apophylite is often found in combination with stilbite, together these minerals can form beautiful clusters that are much loved by collectors. Due to its high water content, apophyllite can also conduct water, an uncommon property in crystals. Although apophyllite is found in several places in the world, the most beautiful specimens come from Poona in India.
