Carcharodontosaurus teeth, this was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived about 100 million years ago at the height of present-day North Africa Read more.
Bigger than the T-Rex
There are not many carnivorous dinosaurs that are larger than the American Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Carcharodontosaurus was about 2 meters longer and walked just like the T-rex on its hind legs and had relatively small forelegs. This Dino is also referred to as the African T-rex.
The teeth of the Carcharodontosaurus are marked and truncated. This was ideal for cutting, but not for cracking bones or holding a prey. From this it is deduced that this hunter has probably attacked his prey several times in a row to get it down.
Difference between Spinosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus teeth
The spinosaurus teeth are cylindrical and pointy. These were well suited for capturing and keeping a hold of their prey. The Carcharodontosaurus teeth are slim, crooked and truncated to cut and tear pieces from their prey. Two successful but completely different methods from the largest predators that ever walked the surface of the Earth!
