Here you will find various types and colors of tourmaline. Tourmaline is a gemstone that is often used in jewelry but which is also in its natural form beautiful to see. There are many different types of tourmaline:
Indigiolite
Indigiolite is a blue tourmaline and usually has a nice light blue color. However, the tourmaline can take up almost the entire blue spectrum.
Watermelon tourmaline
A very popular color combination of tourmaline is green with pink (verdelite with rubelite). This variety is called watermelon tourmaline and it is not difficult to guess why. The color differences within the tourmaline crystal are due to the changing circumstances during the growth of the crystal, besides green and pink there are also other color combinations possible.
Verdelite
Verdeliet is a green tourmaline. Usually this crystal is clear to soft green, but also very dark green occurs.
Rubellite
Rubelite is a pink tourmaline. Pink is an exceptional colour for minerals. Rubelite is therefore very popular and is often seen as a symbol of love.
Black tourmaline
Unlike other tourmalines, black tourmalin is opaque and often deep black. This dark colour owes the tourmaline to the many iron compounds that occur in this mineral. Black tourmaline is used to prevent radiation.
Dravite
Dravite is a brown tourmaline. The name comes from the river Drava which runs through Austria and Slovenia and where the mineral was first found.
