The Sikhote-Alin meteorite fell in Russia during daylight at 10:38 a.m. local time on February 12, 1947. Eyewitnesses reported a fireball brighter than the sun. The meteorite left a trail of smoke and dust up to 20 miles long, which remained visible for several hours.
