Armored menu

The globidens mosasaur was a dinosaur who lived between 85 and 66 million years ago in the seas near North America, Africa and Indonesia. These water reptiles could reach a length of about 6 meters. On the menu were mainly ammonites, turtles and shellfish. This also explains the remarkable teeth of this dino.

Spherical teeth

The name of the globidens mosasaur is derived from its globular teeth. These were especially suitable for cracking hard shells such as those of an ammonite and even turtle shells. The related mosasaur species had mainly pointy teeth with which they could easily grab smooth fish and squids. The globidens teeth are rounded with a spherical upper part on a smaller base. This made the teeth more resilient and better protected from impact damage. The jaws worked like a hammer to crack shells or shields.

Special mosasaur tooth

These spherical mosasaur teeth are found much less than the more famous pointed and conical mosasaur teeth. It is therefore a nice addition to your African dinosaur teeth collection or beautiful to show at lectures.
